Of course, Chase dared not voice his thoughts aloud. “I know the person in charge of the center quite well. Should I pull some strings to ensure her company gets the project? From what I’ve heard, Summit and other large companies are also bidding. The competition is fierce.”
“There’s no need for that. The chance is already given to her. If she fails to secure the project, it simply means she’s not capable. Just make sure it’s a fair competition.”
Chase couldn’t help but be impressed. This man was ruthless, even when it came to his own wife. “Right, I’ll do as you say.”
Five minutes later, Catherine returned with a bag of streaky pork. “It’s all set,” he said casually.
She was surprised. Was that all it took? This uncle of Ethan’s must be a powerful man.
“Thank you,” she said sincerely.
The corners of his lips curled into a smile. “Now, let’s head home for roast pork.”
Catherine raised an eyebrow in mock surprise. “I wasn’t planning on making that. I was thinking of making pork and potatoes stew.”
“…”
He was speechless.
His face shifted, and a range of emotions flickered across it. Then, a chuckle escaped her. “I’m messing with you. I’m planning to make roast pork.”
“Catherine Jones,” he said each word carefully. How dare she tease him? Was she taking advantage of his one moment of kindness?
Realizing he was getting upset, she quickly stuck out her tongue and said playfully, “Is it that hard to admit you like roast pork? There’s no shame in enjoying a guilty pleasure.”
He snorted in disdain.
Grinning, she asked, “Do you know what I like to eat?”
“Cat food,” he replied without hesitation.

She didn’t know what to say. What the hell? Maybe she should stop cooking for him altogether.
“I like to eat you the most.” She pouted her lips
