Chapter 54
By 2 PM, Cordy was ready to leave for Zoe’s filming location. Vince was already waiting with the car, and they headed out, the quiet hum of the engine filling the space as Cordy prepared herself mentally for the meeting ahead.
She knew this was a crucial moment for both Starstream and her career, and while she had done her research and prepared for every contingency, the uncertainty of how Zoe would respond to her offer lingered in the back of her mind.
As they arrived at the filming studio, Cordy couldn’t help but feel a surge of both excitement and apprehension. She had heard enough about Zoe’s reputation to understand that the actress wasn’t easily swayed by anything less than a compelling proposition. However, Cordy also knew that with Zoe’s rising popularity and her status in both showbiz and the endorsement world, she couldn’t afford to miss this opportunity.
They made their way to the location where Zoe was filming, and as they entered, Cordy couldn’t help but admire the professionalism that surrounded the set. The crew moved swiftly, every moment meticulously timed to ensure a smooth shoot.
Vince followed her closely, and as they neared the shooting area, Cordy felt a wave of anticipation. She looked around, scanning the area for Zoe, and spotted her in the distance. Zoe stood out even in the hustle of the set—her confidence and striking presence commanding attention. But it was her cool, aloof demeanor that made Cordy pause for a moment. She wasn’t going to make this easy.
Jay was nearby, leaning casually against a wall, watching the set as Zoe finished up a scene. He caught Cordy’s eye and gave her a small, almost imperceptible nod, signaling that things were about to get underway.
As the director called for a break, Zoe walked off set, her stride purposeful and unhurried. She seemed to notice Cordy right away, giving her a quick once-over before acknowledging her presence with a cool, professional smile.
“You must be Cordy Sachs,” Zoe said, her voice smooth but with a hint of curiosity. “I’ve heard of you. Though I didn’t expect to meet you like this.”
Cordy extended her hand with a confident smile. “It’s a pleasure, Zoe. I’m glad we could arrange this meeting.”
Zoe’s gaze shifted briefly to Vince, then back to Cordy. “I don’t normally do this sort of thing, but Jay mentioned you’re offering something interesting.”
“I won’t waste your time,” Cordy replied, her tone all business. “I’m here because I believe you would be the perfect ambassador for Starstream’s upcoming season. Your image, your influence—it aligns perfectly with the direction we’re moving in.”
Zoe tilted her head slightly, intrigued but still cautious. “Starstream? The fashion company?”
“That’s right,” Cordy said, nodding. “And I don’t just mean as a figurehead. I want someone who can help shape our brand’s future, someone who can be an integral part of the evolution we’re undergoing.”
Zoe studied her for a moment, clearly weighing the offer. “And what exactly are you offering me?”
“I’d like you to come on board as our exclusive brand ambassador for the next two years,” Cordy said. “With your star power, I believe we can take Starstream to the next level. We’d also be willing to discuss a compensation package that reflects your status in the industry, of course.”
Zoe raised an eyebrow, clearly impressed by the directness of Cordy’s proposal. “That’s quite the offer. But I’m sure you know that I don’t sign contracts on a whim. I’ll need to see more than just numbers.”
“I wouldn’t expect anything less,” Cordy said, her confidence unwavering. “I’d be happy to discuss the specifics, but first, I’d like to understand what it is that you’re looking for in an endorsement deal. What do you want from a brand like Starstream?”
Zoe took a moment to consider her words. “I’ve always been about authenticity,” she said finally. “I don’t want to be a face on a billboard that doesn’t stand for something meaningful. Whatever we do together, it needs to be real. It needs to resonate with my audience, and with me.”
Cordy smiled. It was exactly what she had hoped to hear.
“We’re on the same page,” Cordy said. “Starstream is redefining itself, and I’m looking for someone who can help us tell that story—someone who understands the importance of connection and authenticity.”
Jay, who had been observing the conversation, stepped forward just then, offering a light chuckle. “I think you two are going to get along just fine.”
Zoe turned to him, her smile softening. “Maybe, but you’re not off the hook just yet.”
Jay raised his hands in mock surrender, stepping back as Cordy and Zoe continued to converse. The meeting had gone well so far, but Cordy knew the true challenge was still ahead: getting Zoe to commit.
The next few hours would be crucial, but for the first time in a long while, Cordy felt like she was finally on the right path.
