Chapter 96
Noel’s frustration was palpable, but as she stewed in her anger, she couldn’t help but notice the calculated, cold glint in Kyle’s eyes. He was a man who never let go of a grudge, and right now, he seemed more determined than ever to make sure Cordy suffered.
“Good,” Noel said, her voice barely concealing her distaste. “Make sure those journalists are ready to bring her down at that press conference. I want to see her crumble under the pressure.”
Kyle’s lips curled into a tight smile as he nodded. “Don’t worry. I’ll make sure the right stories get out. This is far from over.”
As he hung up the phone, a sense of grim satisfaction settled over him. He wasn’t someone to back down from a fight, especially when it came to someone he considered a rival. And Cordy was far more than a rival now—she was a threat. If she somehow managed to turn this situation around, he would lose more than just a business opportunity. He’d lose his chance to make sure he came out on top.
Meanwhile, Cordy had already shifted into full crisis mode. The press conference was still hours away, and she was rehearsing her statements, ensuring every word was carefully chosen. Despite the chaos swirling around her, her composure remained unshaken, her mind focused on the singular goal of saving Starstream Group.
Her PR team was working overtime, coordinating with reporters, handling any last-minute details, and preparing for the inevitable storm of questions that would follow.
She knew the pressure would be immense. She was aware that some of the media outlets were still skeptical of her, some of them even outright hostile. But she didn’t care. She had already made up her mind. She wouldn’t allow anyone to undermine her.
Cordy reviewed the timeline for the press conference and then turned to Stacy, who had been assisting her throughout the preparations.
“Do you think we can handle the backlash?” Cordy asked, her voice steady but carrying a hint of concern.
Stacy nodded firmly. “We have everything in place, Ms. Sachs. We’ve secured the media we need, and we’ve already made sure the narrative is in our control. The public will hear your side of the story, and they won’t be swayed by the lies.”
“I hope so,” Cordy said, glancing out the window as the sun began to set. The weight of the situation seemed to grow heavier as the minutes ticked by, but Cordy refused to let it crush her. She had fought for every inch of Starstream Group’s success, and she wouldn’t let a scandal take it away.
But little did she know, as she prepared to face the media, that Kyle and Noel were already planning their next move. The battle for Starstream Group was far from over. And no matter how hard Cordy tried, the storm they were about to unleash would test her in ways she couldn’t anticipate.
At the press conference the next day, the room was filled with the sharp click of camera shutters and the murmur of reporters. Cordy stood at the podium, poised and confident.
“Thank you for joining me today,” she began, her eyes sweeping the room, taking in every reporter with a calm, unflinching gaze. “I know that many of you are here because of the recent scandal involving Starstream Group. And I want to be clear from the very start: I take full responsibility for what happened, and I will do everything in my power to make things right.”
The cameras flashed as reporters jotted down notes, eager for her next words.
“We are a company built on trust,” Cordy continued, her voice carrying with authority. “And while we are facing a difficult moment right now, I assure you—we will recover. We will meet the needs of our customers, honor our commitments to our suppliers, and continue to operate with integrity. What happened was a mistake, and we are taking immediate steps to ensure it doesn’t happen again.”
As the press conference unfolded, Cordy held her ground, answering questions with precision and dignity, her confidence never wavering even when some of the harder questions came her way.
But she knew it wasn’t going to be enough just to speak the truth. She had to show the world that Starstream Group wasn’t a company that would bow down to scandal.
And despite everything, Cordy remained determined. She wouldn’t let Kyle, Noel, or anyone else dictate her fate. She would fight—whatever it took.
