Chapter 97
Cordy let out a slow breath, her grip tightening around her phone as she processed Kyle’s venomous words. His audacity never ceased to amaze her. Even now, when his machinations were slowly falling apart, he still tried to twist everything to his advantage. But his words no longer stung; they only served to solidify her resolve.
She had no illusions about the pressure she was under, but every calculated move she made, every ounce of professionalism she exhibited, brought her closer to reclaiming control. The press conference the next day would be crucial, and she needed to be at her best.
Still, Kyle’s spiteful words echoed in her mind for a moment longer. She knew he wouldn’t stop scheming. He was ruthless—always had been. But as she thought about it, something about his behavior struck her as odd. He had been trying so hard to manipulate and control the situation, but now that the public sentiment was shifting in her favor, it was clear that he was becoming more desperate.
His irritation was palpable, and it dawned on Cordy that she had perhaps underestimated how far Kyle was willing to go. His sense of entitlement, his need to always be in control—it was all starting to unravel. And Noel’s hand in all this? Cordy wasn’t about to let them get away with it.
But there were bigger things to focus on now. She needed to be prepared for the press conference, and as she set her phone aside, she stood up, pacing slowly in her office as she gathered her thoughts.
Just as she was about to focus on the agenda for tomorrow, a knock came at the door. It was Stacy, her loyal PR head, holding a stack of documents.
“Ms. Sachs, we’ve finalized the talking points for tomorrow,” Stacy said, stepping inside and placing the papers on Cordy’s desk. “The media outlets are ready, but there’s something you need to see.”
Cordy’s brow furrowed as she scanned the documents. “What is it?”
“Some of the major outlets that Kyle reached out to have agreed to question your integrity during the press conference tomorrow. They’re coming prepared with a lot of tough questions, and there’s no doubt they’ll try to corner you,” Stacy said, her voice tinged with concern. “But we’ve also managed to get a few journalists who are loyal to Starstream Group.”
Cordy nodded thoughtfully. “Good. Let’s use it to our advantage. I’ll face whatever they throw at me tomorrow. But I won’t let them use me to drive a wedge between the company and the public. The truth will come out, no matter how hard they try to bury it.”
Stacy nodded with a determined smile. “We’ve also lined up a few influencers and bloggers to attend the press conference. They’ll spread the word if we handle it right.”
“Excellent. Keep me updated on any developments,” Cordy replied, already thinking ahead. She knew that while she would need to take care with her words tomorrow, the true battle was in the follow-up. She couldn’t afford to let the media narratives spin out of control after the press conference.
As Stacy left the office, Cordy sat back in her chair, her mind whirring with strategy. She had never been one to back down, but even she knew that this was a pivotal moment. If she could successfully navigate the press conference, steer the narrative in her favor, and expose the corruption behind the scenes, Starstream Group could rise from the ashes of this scandal.
The question wasn’t whether she could handle the pressure; it was whether the people around her—especially those who had betrayed her—would be able to handle what was coming next.
And Cordy had no intention of letting anyone dictate her future. Not Kyle. Not Noel. No one.
Tomorrow, she would stand tall, face the media, and take back control of her life and the company she had worked so hard to build.
